Paul Scholes: Leaving out Man City star has helped France
Paul Scholes backs Didier Deschamps' decision to leave Samir Nasri out of France's World Cup squad
Paul Scholes has praised Didier Deschamps’ decision to leave Samir Nasri out of France’s World Cup squad.
Deschamps raised some eyebrows when he opted to omit the playmaker from his 23-man squad for this summer’s tournament after Nasri helped Manchester City win the Premier League last season.
Descahmps has sacrificed one of his better players and they’ve been rewarded for it
However, former Manchester United midfielder Scholes believes that Deschamps has now been vindicated in his decision as France prepare to face Germany in the quarter-finals.
Scholes wrote in his Paddy Power blog: “When the France manager Didier Deschamps left out Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri, I thought: what’s he doing?
“But he left Nasri out for the good of the team and he’s done something special because France were in disarray in 2010.
“Descahmps has sacrificed one of his better players and they’ve been rewarded for it.”
