Robin van Persie has insisted that the Netherlands’ overall success at the World Cup is far more important than his personal form.

Louis van Gaal’s side are gearing up for their semi-final showdown with Argentina on Wednesday, with Van Persie having scored three goals to help his country to the last four.

However, the Manchester United striker insists that he is only worried about his team’s overall form and not his own.

“This World Cup is not about Robin van Persie. It is about our team doing well,” said Van Persie.

“I love a big tournament, but I don’t need to have the limelight.

“We’re a squad of 23 players. The atmosphere is excellent. I don’t have anything at all to complain about.”
