Walcott, Hazard and more: Twitter reacts as Germany win the World Cup
Theo Walcott and Eden Hazard both tweet their thoughts as Germany beat Argentina in extra-time to win the World Cup
Germany were crowned world champions for the fourth time as Mario Götze’s extra-time winner beat Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final in Brazil.
The Germany substitute expertly controlled Andre Schurrle’s cross with his chest before volleying into the bottom corner with seven minutes to play.
Both sides wasted chances in normal time at the Maracanã, with Argentina’s Gonzalo Higuain and Lionel Messi both dragging wide.
The biggest game in world football inevitably prompted a huge response on Twitter, and here is a pick of our favourite updates, in chronological order as usual.
