Mauricio Pochettino has refused to be drawn on speculation linking Tottenham Hotspur with a move for Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin.

The Saints have already sold Adam Lallana, Rickie Lambert and Luke Shaw this summer, whilst Calum Chambers is reportedly close to joining Arsenal and Liverpool are nearing a deal for Dejan Lovren.

We’re trying to improve the squad but I never speak about players from other clubs. I have respect

Mauricio Pochettino

Surprisingly, Pochettino, who swapped the Saints for Tottenham in May, is yet to raid his former club despite masterminding the south coast outfit’s eighth-place finish last season.

However, according to report, the Argentine is keen to bring France international Schneiderlin to White Hart Lane to bolster his defensive midfield options.

But Pochettino wouldn’t discuss any potential move for the Southampton star when quizzed on the possibility of a deal for the 24-year-old.

“We’re trying to improve the squad but I never speak about players from other clubs. I have respect. I’m just focused on my team,” Pochettino is quoted as saying.

Schneiderlin has scored 10 goals in 235 appearances for Southampton since joining from Strasbourg in 2008.
