Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend is hoping to build on his breakthrough season
Andros Townsend is hoping to build on his breakthrough season at Tottenham Hotspur after returning to pre-season training.
The 22-year-old made a bright start to the 2013/14 campaign as the England international started Tottenham’s first 10 Premier League games and scored against Aston Villa.
Last year was my breakthrough for club and country and it is important I build on that
Townsend earned a place in Roy Hodgson’s squad thanks to his club form and netted his first Three Lions’s goal in a 4-1 win against Montenegro, earning the man-of-the-match award.
And the former Queens Park Rangers midfielder wants to impress new manager Mauricio Pochettino and find a greater level of consistency in his performances.
“It is a big season for me. Last year was my breakthrough for club and country and it is important I build on that and show a lot more consistency then I did last year,” Townsend told Tottenham’s website.
“I’m 23 next week, that will come with age. So hopefully I can build on what I did last season.”
