Cesc Fabregas has opened his Chelsea account with a stunning free-kick to help the Blues beat Vitesse Arnhem 3-1 in a pre-season friendly.

The 27-year-old former Arsenal captain completed a controversial £27m move to Stamford Bridge from La Liga giants Barcelona earlier this month.

And Fabregas opened his Blues account with a brilliant free-kick, whilst £32m striker Diego Costa played a part in all three of Chelsea’s goals.

“He’s very intelligent the way he presses and he’s a team man,” Jose Mourinho said of Costa.

“He had two big chances to score but he prefers not to risk, but played for the team. We can feel he’s happy to be with us and we’re very happy with it.”
