The Manchester United striker has enjoyed the World Cup, finally performing in a major tournament. True, the 30-year-old drew a blank against Mexico, but the Holland captain has still scored three goals in four games. Costa Rica will be tired if their extra-time performance against Greece is anything to go by. The Tipster is offering *SPECIAL ODDS of 9/2 on Robin van Persie to score during normal time.
For many, this will be a bit of a no-brainer. But Mexico were tough opponents for the Dutch, and Louis van Gaal’s men can expect more of the same against Costa Rica. Let’s not forget that Costa Rica have already beaten Italy, drawn with England and got past Greece (albeit on penalties) in this tournament. Having said all that, Holland have a 100 per cent record against CONCACAF and South American nations at this tournament. The Tipster is backing Holland to beat Costa Rica at 8/15.
Holland have been one of the more entertaining sides at the tournament, with their games producing goals. Even their last-16 clash which seemed destined to finish 1-0 in Mexico’s favour, eventually produced three goals courtesy of Wesley Sneijder and Klaas Jan Huntelaar. Holland were 5-1 winners against Spain, secured a 3-2 victory over Australia and beat Chile 2-0. Over 2.5 goals looks good value considering the stats at 11/10.
One of the biggest criticism of Van Gaal’s side has been their creaking defence. The Dutch have conceded four goals in four games. So, Costa Rica should feel encouraged. The CONCACAF outfit have scored in all of their World Cup games except the goalless draw with England. The Tipster expect Van Gaal’s men to progress to the last four, but he feels Holland to win and both teams to score is great value at 3/1.
The Arsenal striker has been impressive in the World Cup. The Costa Rica striker scored in the opening win against Uruguay, whilst his tireless energy helped his side get past Greece. Joel Campbell even found the energy to confidently tuck his penalty away in the shootout against the Euro 2004 champions, despite a nervous-looking run-up. The Tipster’s long is Campbell to score any time and Holland to beat Costa Rica at 15/1.
