Alexis Sánchez can easily score 20 Premier League goals this season, according to Robbie Savage.

The Chile international netted his first top-flight strike in England on Sunday as the £35m signing helped give Arsenal a 1-0 lead at Leicester City, which was cancelled out by Leo Ulloa before half-time.

Sánchez has made a promising start to his Arsenal career, scoring the crucial strike to help the north London side seal a 1-0 aggregate win against Besiktas and book their place in Champions League group stage mid-week.

And former Leicester midfielder Savage is impressed by the 25-year-old’s performances in an Arsenal shirt since the South American opted to join the Gunners ahead of Liverpool from Barcelona earlier this summer.

“At the other end I think Alexis Sánchez could easily score 20 goals in the Premier League this season, he is a wonderful signing for Arsenal,” Savage told BBC Sport.

However, former Wales international Savage believes Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger still needs to sign a proven centre-forward after Olivier Giroud was sidelined for three to four months following an operation on his tibia during the week.

“I just don’t understand why Arsene Wenger wouldn’t go into the transfer market and get a proven centre forward.”
