Ayrton Senna’s front wing end plates sold for £18,000
Formula 1 racing legend Ayrton Senna’s 1987 Lotus 99T front wing end plates fetch £18,000 at auction

The front wing end plates from the late Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna’s 1987 Lotus 99T have been sold at auction for $31,250 (£18,820).
Often voted as one of the most successful F1 drivers of all time, Senna won two major races – the 1987 Monaco Grand Prix and 1987 Detroit Grand Prix – driving the Lotus 99T.
His Camel cigarettes-sponsored yellow-winged plates, were auctioned off at Nate D. Sanders Auctions on Thursday night.
Senna has been widely recognized as one of the greatest drivers of all-time. He won 41 F1 races and captured three overall titles.
In 1994, Senna was leading the San Marino Grand Prix, when he fatally crashed aged 34.
Also included in the auction were racing suits from A.J. Foyt and Jacques Villeneuve, which sold for $25,000 (£15,000) and $18,750 (“11,290).
Foyt’s racesuit is signed; he wore it during the International Race of Champions (IROC), which he won in 1976 and 1977.
Villeneuve wore his racesuit in 1995, when he won the Indianapolis 500 and captured the CART championship.
