England v India: Hosts name unchanged squad for final Test

England name an unchanged squad of 13 for the final Test with India at The Oval, which starts on Friday

By Sam Rogers

England have announced an unchanged squad of 13 for the fifth and final Test against India at the Kia Oval, which starts on Friday.

The decision comes after the hosts took a 2-1 lead in the five-match series by beating India by an innings and 54 runs inside three days at Old Trafford.

There had been some concerns in the bowling department after Stuart Broad took a nasty blow to the face resulting in a broken nose, while new ball partner James Anderson was suffering with sickness.

Steven Finn and Ben Stokes retain their places in the overall squad despite missing out in Manchester, while Liam Plunkett is left out as he recovers from an ankle injury.

England go into the match at the Kia Oval knowing a draw will seal a first series victory since last year’s home Ashes triumph.

England squad: Alastair Cook (Essex, capt), Moeen Ali (Worcestershire), James Anderson (Lancashire), Gary Ballance (Yorkshire), Ian Bell (Warwickshire), Stuart Broad (Nottinghamshire), Jos Buttler (Lancashire, wk), Steven Finn (Middlesex), Chris Jordan (Sussex), Sam Robson (Middlesex), Joe Root (Yorkshire), Ben Stokes (Durham), Chris Woakes (Warwickshire)
