Loic Remy is relishing the opportunity to work under Jose Mourinho at Chelsea and is backing the Portuguese coach to get the best out of him.

The France international joined from Queens Park Rangers on a four-year contract on Sunday after the Blues activated the £8.5m release clause in the 27-year-old’s contract.

And the striker revealed that a conversation with Mourinho helped convince him that a move to Stamford Bridge was the right one.

“Yeah, I spoke with him [Mourinho]. He is very clever and he knows exactly what he wants,” Remy told Chelsea’s website.

“He has targets for me and I know I have a target for myself as well.

“Everybody wants the best so the discussion was really good. I know he can get the best out of a player and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Remy also cited the chance to play in the Champions league as a big factor in his decision to move to the west London club.

“To be honest I wanted to play in the Champions League this season so yes, that was another of my motivations for coming here,” he added.

“I know that Chelsea can win the Champions League this season because there is so much quality in the squad. The first thing to aim for is winning titles.”
