United have been heavily linked with a swoop for the Ajax defender this summer as Louis van Gaal looks to shore up his rearguard options at Old Trafford.
Now, De Telegraaf is reporting that a £14.2m fee has been agreed between the two clubs ahead of Blind’s potential move to the Premier League outfit.
An Ajax statement read: “Daley Blind will not be included in the selection or Saturday’s training session for the match against Groningen. The player gets permission from Ajax to hold talks with an interested club.”
Blind, who can play at left-back, centre-half, left wing and central midfield, has long been a target for Van Gaal, who coached him in the Dutch national team.
The 24-year-old’s future has been a source of speculation since Ajax technical director Marc Overmars admitted the player could leave for the right price.
“If the offer is high, we’re happy to talk,” said Overmars last week.
Blind made 29 league appearances for Ajax last season, scoring one goal and making one assist.
