Manchester United have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal after the midfielder reportedly told friends that he is planning to stay at Juventus.

The Red Devils have been heavily linked with a big-money swoop for the Chile international all summer and were reported to be in advanced talks with the player this week.

However, the latest media reports claim that the 27-year-old is expecting to stay at the Serie A club beyond the summer.

According to the Daily Express, Vidal has told friends: “At this point I do not [want to] go away, I stay at Juventus.”

The midfielder scored 11 goals and made five assists in 32 Serie A games for Juve last season.

Vidal has won three Serie A titles since joining Juventus from Bayer Leverkusen in 2011.
