Louis van Gaal’s winless start as Manchester United manager continued on Saturday after the Red Devils were held to a goalless draw at Burnley.

Angel Di Maria made his first Premier League appearance for his new club and played 70 minutes, but was unable to help his side unlock a stubborn Burnley defence at Turf Moor. The Argentina international went off with cramp and was replaced by Anderson.

The result means that United are still without a win under the Dutchman and have only collected two points from a possible nine in the Premier League.

They have failed to win in four attempts since Van Gaal took over following their 4-0 demolition at the hands of MK Dons in the League Cup second round on Tuesday.

David Jones could have given Burnley the lead but his free-kick struck the crossbar, while Robin van Persie saw his shot cleared off the line.
