Raheem Sterling finished like Ricky Gervais, jokes Liverpool manager
Tottenham 0 Liverpool 3: Brendan Rodgers can afford a wry chuckle at Raheem Sterling's second-half miss after emphatic win
Brendan Rodgers was in fine form following Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, managing to poke fun at a second-half miss by Raheem Sterling.
The England international had broken the deadlock at White Hart Lane after a slick move involving Jordan Henderson and Daniel Sturridge teed up Sterling for a simple finish in the eighth minute.

Liverpool doubled their lead shortly after half-time when Steven Gerrard converted from the spot following Eric Dier’s foul on Joe Allen before Alberto Moreno scored a superb solo goal to seal a 3-0 win.
However, the Reds could have added a fourth when Sterling collected Emre Can’s pass and dribbled past three Tottenham defenders in Hugo Lloris’s area only to miscue his finish into the grateful goalkeeper’s hands.
And after the 3-0 win, the Liverpool manager first praised Sterling for the quality of his run before having a chuckle at the 19-year-old’s expense after a poor finish.
“He was exceptional today. But I had to laugh when he almost scored the fourth,” Rodgers told BBC Sport.
