Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that summer signing Adam Lallana will be in Liverpool’s squad for the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

The England international has missed the start of the Premier League season after sustaining a knee injury during the Reds’s pre-season tour of USA.

In training for the last couple of weeks he has been exceptional

And Liverpool manager Rodgers revealed that his £25m signing from Southampton has looked “exceptional” in first-team training over the past couple of weeks.

“Adam will be in the squad, for sure,” Rodgers told his pre-match media conference. “He has looked fantastic in training.

“Of course he is well short of match fitness but in training for the last couple of weeks he has been exceptional.”

On injury doubts in his squad, Rodgers is expecting £12m signing Alberto Moreno to recover from a twisted ankle, but can’t see Glen Johnson featuring at White Hart Lane.

“We’ll see closer to the game. Young [Alberto] Moreno twisted his ankle, which was unfortunate, but he has been recovering well this week,” Rodgers added.

“Glen Johnson is probably the one that it could be difficult for, with a thigh problem.

“Jose Enrique has been back training for over a week, and looks very strong and fit. But, again, he hasn’t had a lot of game time. We’ll see over the next 48 hours.

“The group has been brilliant in training this week – the focus has been very good.”
