The Italy international sealed a £16m move to Liverpool from AC Milan on Monday, penning a long-term deal with the 18-time English champions.
He is more experienced as a player and a person now and will make some very positive contributions to the Liverpool team
Balotelli, who won the Premier League title with Manchester City in 2012, could make his Liverpool debut against Tottenham at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
And Everton striker Eto’o, who scored in a 6-3 loss to Chelsea on Saturday, defended his former Inter Milan team-mate Balotelli and rubbished his bad boy image.
“Mario was very young at Inter but he is a person of great qualities – not only in terms of football,” Eto’o told the Sun.
“It is only right to give him the benefit of the doubt. He is more experienced as a player and a person now and will make some very positive contributions to the Liverpool team.”
“Lots of people make errors in their young life which are later corrected and I would think Mario has done some growing up as a player and as a person,” Eto’o added.
Balotelli scored 30 goals in 54 Serie A appearances for AC Milan following his return to Italy in 2013.
