Adam Lallana close to Liverpool debut, reveals Brendan Rodgers
Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers says Adam Lallana is set to return to the Reds side in the coming weeks
Brendan Rodgers has revealed that Adam Lallana is very close to making his Liverpool debut.
The England international hasn’t featured for the Reds since completing a £25m move from Southampton in the summer transfer window.
We’ll look forward to introducing him back to that over the next couple of weeks
However, Lallana is edging to full fitness following a knee injury after scoring in a behind closed doors game against Wolves during the international break.
And Liverpool manager Rodgers, whose side are fifth in the Premier League, is looking forward to the chance to introduce Lallana to his Reds side.
“He’s looked very good. He is obviously short of match fitness, but the only way he is going to get that is by playing,” Rodgers told Liverpool’s website.
“He featured in the game we had here at Melwood against Wolves behind closed doors, scored the winning goal and did very well. In training he’s worked very, very hard.
“It’s just about him getting the minutes and the game time, and we’ll look forward to introducing him back to that over the next couple of weeks.”
Lallana scored nine goals in 37 Premier League games for Southampton last season.
