Rio Ferdinand has warned Queens Park Rangers that they are facing Manchester United at the wrong time.

The Red Devils are expected to start British club-record signing Angel Di Maria and fellow new arrival Radamel Falcao against the Hoops on Sunday.

They will be raring to go and wanting to prove themselves to the United fans

United are looking to record their first Premier League win under Van Gaal after two draws and a surprise defeat in three Premier League games.

And QPR centre-half Ferdinand, who joined the Hoops from United in the summer, lavished praise on the Red Devils’s big-name signings.

“The timing could not have been worse for us. They [Di Maria and Falcao] are two world-class players. They will be raring to go and wanting to prove themselves to the United fans,” Ferdinand told Daily Mail.

“I’ve played against Di Maria before and really liked him. He’s a really good runner with the ball – quick and direct – and one of the hardest players to play against.

“United have not had the best of starts and I have to do a professional job. I’m sure there will be a few emotions on my part but I have to put those to one side.”
