Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger would’ve ‘loved’ to coach Chelsea legend
Arsene Wenger reveals that he would have loved to have managed Didier Drogba at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger has revealed that he would have “loved” to have coached Didier Drogba at Arsenal.
The Gunners boss says that he missed out on the chance to sign the Ivorian during the early stages of his career after it became clear that the striker had huge potential.
Drogba joined Chelsea in 2004 and went on to score over 150 goals for the west London club.
And Wenger concedes that he would have relished the chance to work with the 36-year-old striker, who returned to Chelsea this summer.
Wenger said in an interview with Huawei: “I would have loved to have managed Didier Drogba for two reasons.
“I missed him when he played in France at Le Mans – not even in the top league. I knew he was good player there and I missed him.
“And secondly because he hurt us so much in big games that all this pain would not have happened.”
Drogba has scored 15 goals in 15 games against Arsenal.
