Arsenal transfers: Gunners ‘not interested in Huntelaar’
Arsenal transfers: Schalke director Horst Heldt says no clubs tried to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar this summer
Arsenal did not make an approach to sign Klaas-Jan Huntelaar this summer, Schalke director Horst Heldt has revealed.
The Gunners were linked with a host of strikers during the transfer window after Olivier Giroud was ruled out until the new year with a broken leg, with the Dutchman touted as a possible target for the north London club.
We can definitely see him sign a contract renewal here
However, Schakle chief Heldt has insisted that there were no offers for the 31-year-old forward before the close of the window.
“There was no approach from Arsenal or from any other club,” Heldt is quoted as saying by Kicker.
“Klaas-Jan is part of Schalke’s core. We can definitely see him sign a contract renewal here.
“He is a great player, an absolute modern professional. He’s always hungry for success and wants to achieve his goals.”
Huntelaar scored 12 goals in 18 Bundesliga games for Schalke last season.
