Aaron Ramsey admits that he is desperate to be fit for Arsenal’s showdown with Manchester City on Saturday.

The 23-year-old is set to undergo a late fitness test after suffering a minor ankle injury late on during Wales’ 2-1 win over Andorra on Tuesday.

Hopefully it will be nothing and I’ll be available for Saturday

Ramsey blamed the poor playing surface for the injury but remains hopeful of being ready to face the Citizens at Emirates Stadium on Saturday lunchtime.

“I hope that’s the last time I play on a plastic pitch,” Ramsey told ITV Sport.

“The pitch was very hard, there was no give in it, and I rolled my ankle a little bit.

“I could feel it, but hopefully it will be nothing and I’ll be available for Saturday.

“Manchester City at home, those are the games you want to play in so hopefully it won’t be a problem.”
