Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger happy with Danny Welbeck’s ‘good all-round game’
Aston Villa 0 Arsenal 3: Arsene Wenger hails a good performance from Danny Welbeck at Villa Park
Arsene Wenger spoke of his satisfaction with a “good all-round game” from Danny Welbeck after the striker helped Arsenal seal an emphatic win at Villa Park.
The Gunners weathered an early Villa storm to break the deadlock in the 32nd minute as Welbeck teed up under-fire Mesut Ozil for his first Premier League goal of the season.
Ball retention is important and he had a good all-round game for a central striker
The World Cup winner returned the favour less than two minutes later as 23-year-old Welbeck opened his Gunners account after a £16m move to The Emirates from Manchester United.
And Wenger, whose side benefited from an Aly Cissokho own goal before half-time, was pleased with Welbeck’s performance, hailing the goal as important for the England international.
“He scored a similar goal to the one he scored in Switzerland,” Wenger said.
“A cross from the left and he pushed it in – the timing of his run is good. I think he had a very good performance today because he kept the ball.

Welbeck signed a five-year deal with the north London side after completing a £16m switch to Arsenal from Manchester United on transfer deadline day.
