Arsenal defender Calum Chambers reflects on a "whirlwind month" after making his England debut against Norway last week
Calum Chambers admits it has been a “whirlwind month” after the Arsenal defender made his England debut last week.
The 19-year-old was an 80th-minute substitute as the Three Lions were 1-0 winners against Norway in a friendly at Wembley on Wednesday night.
I took it all in and really enjoyed it – it was a really good day for me
Chambers has already racked up six appearances in all competitions for Arsenal after completing a £16m switch to the Gunners from Southampton last month.
And the teenager described making his first England appearance as a dream come true ahead of the Three Lions’s opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Switzerland.
“It has been a whirlwind month for me,” Chambers told the FA’s website. “I was over the moon [when I got the call] as it’s every kid’s dream to play for England. It was fantastic news.
“Wembley is an amazing stadium and making my debut there made it all the better really. I had all my family and friends there and it was a dream come true.
“It was a little bit nerve-wracking when I got on the pitch. It was just excitement, I just wanted to get on there and kick a ball.
“I took it all in and really enjoyed it – it was a really good day for me.”
