Mathieu Debuchy must wait until Friday to discover if he requires ankle surgery after confirming that he suffered ligament damage in Arsenal’s clash with Manchester City.

The France international was carried off on a stretcher in agony late on during the 2-2 draw at Emirates Stadium last weekend after landing awkwardly.

The 29-year-old, who joined from Newcastle United over the summer, sat out the midweek Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.

And the right-back took to his Facebook page on Wednesday night to reveal the latest on his injury problem.

Debuchy wrote: “No fracture but one broken ligament… I have to wait until Friday in order to know if I must have surgery…”

Debuchy had started all of Arsenal’s Premier League games this season following his switch from St James’ Park.
