Arsene Wenger heaps praise on Arsenal’s ‘giant’ Abou Diaby
Manager Arsene Wenger is hoping that Abou Diaby can stay injury free for Arsenal this season
Arsene Wenger is hoping that Abou Diaby’s injury nightmare is behind him as the midfielder prepares to make his Arsenal comeback.
The 28-year-old has not featured for the Gunners this season as he continued his recovery from a knee injury picked up last term.
If there is some justice, the future will be much better for him
Diaby’s Arsenal career has been blighted by injuries but the Frenchman made his return for the Gunners’ Under-21s this month.
And Wenger, who is planning to play the midfielder in Tuesday’s League Cup clash with Southampton, is backing him to find top form in the coming months.
“He was with us at Villa Park again on Saturday and he will play against Southampton on Tuesday,” said Wenger.
“He is a giant, mentally. To do what he has done, with the severe injuries he had, he comes back every time, is dedicated and he deserves a lot of respect.
“I am a huge believer in his quality and I am sad as well that he couldn’t show it more.
“If there is some justice, the future will be much better for him.”
