Martin O’Neill has been getting increasingly tetchy with the media in recent weeks, and Irish radio station TodayFM has produced a brilliant clip summarising the Republic of Ireland manager’s current mood.

The former Aston Villa boss wasn’t impressed with RTE journalist Tony O’Donoghue after he questioned his side’s performance despite a 2-1 victory over Georgia in their opening Euro 2016 qualifier in Tbilisi on Sunday night.

“We’re playing away from home today; it’s the first game,” O’Neill said. “We’ve won away from home. I think you, even you should be delighted that we’ve won the game.”

O’Neill added: “I know you don’t seem all that pleased about it; [it’s] not like you, Tony, to always pick a negative of anything. But [I’m] delighted, it’s three points away from home, and I couldn’t be more pleased.”

Outspoken former Ireland international Eamonn Dunphy was quick to defend his RTE colleague, criticising O’Neill’s frosty post-match interview.

And TodayFM’s Gift Grub show gave their take on O’Neill’s unforgiving interview, brilliantly imitating Ireland coach and former Manchester United captain Robbie Keane.

Ireland face Gibraltar in their next Euro 2016 qualifier in October.
