Bryan Robson: Man United should have kept Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck
Manchester United captain Bryan Robson believes Danny Welbeck could have been a good Red Devils squad player
Bryan Robson believes Manchester United should have kept Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck.
The 23-year-old striker signed a five-year deal with the Gunners on transfer deadline day last week, costing the north London side a reported £16m.
You would always get 100 per cent from Danny in every match. He never gets injured and would have been a good squad member
Whilst he is still waiting to make his Arsenal debut, Welbeck was able to find form on England duty as he scored twice to secure a 2-0 victory over Switzerland on Monday.
Former United captain Robson, who won two Premier League titles, admitted that he would have kept Welbeck at the Red Devils to provide cover for their current strikers.
“The players Manchester United allowed to leave were all good business, apart from Danny Welbeck,” Robson told talkSPORT.
“I would have kept him. He’s a great lad and a good, honest player.
“You would always get 100 per cent from Danny in every match. He never gets injured and would have been a good squad member.
“The manager has made that decision [however] and Danny will have a great career at Arsenal. He’ll be playing all the time and will do well for them.”
