Calum Chambers has been voted Arsenal’s player of the month for August after a string of impressive displays for the Gunners.

The 19-year-old won the poll on Arsenal.com after receiving over a third of the votes following his transfer from Southampton this summer.

Chambers, who has featured in all three of the Gunners’ opening Premier League games, finished with 34.8 per cent of the votes, just ahead of fellow new arrival Alexis Sánchez on 33.4 per cent.

Midfielder Aaron Ramsey came third in the poll with 17.2 per cent of the votes.

Arsenal defender Nacho Monreal has been impressed with the impact Chambers has had since arriving at Emirates Stadium.

Monreal said: “He’s played like he’s played for a long time in the Premier League.

“He’s a good player and an important player for us now and in the future because he’s younger.”
