Liverpool edged into the fourth round of the Capital One Cup after a thrilling 14-13 penalty shootout victory over Middlesbrough at Anfield.

Boro midfielder Adam Reach cancelled out Jordan Rossiter’s first Liverpool goal on his debut to help the Championship side force extra-time.

Suso appeared to have won the tie for the home side in the 109th minute, but Patrick Bamford netted a last-gasp penalty to force a shootout before Albert Adomah missed the crucial spot-kick.
