Jamie Carragher has backed Liverpool to beat Everton in the crunch Merseyside derby at Anfield on Saturday.

Merseyside derby enhanced odds: Liverpool to win at 4/1, draw at 9/1 or Everton to win at 11/1!

The Reds face the Toffees as Brendan Rodgers’s men look to record their first Premier League win in two attempts.

And here is a selection of the best Twitter reaction from the former professionals ahead of the derby clash.

As mentioned, Carragher (@Carra23) reckons Liverpool will win: “Prediction time – Lfc to win 2-1. Goodnight, pretty sure it’ll be a sleepless night for a lot of the blues!!!!”

Liverpool legend Michael Owen (‏@themichaelowen) is helping BT Sport cover the game: “Back to Anfield today for Derby Day! Just like old times… #DerbyDay”

Before tweeting a photo from the famous Anfield steps:

Former Liverpool striker Neil Mellor (@NeilMellor33) wonders how the summer signings will cope with the derby-day atmosphere: “Plenty of new faces making derby debuts for Liverpool. Both sides not had a great start but it’s all about the 3points!!”

Ex-Reds full-back Rob Jones (@RobjonesLFC2) is watching the clash with Liverpool legend Digger: “At the Derby today with @officialbarnesy @paulanto78 @jaredayres @declanjones2009 come on lads!! #LFC”

Unsurprisingly, Manchester United legend Norman Whiteside (@NormanWhiteside) is supporting Everton: “Big game, Merseyside Derby COYB’s :)”

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge (@Realaldo474) is tipping £25m signing Adam Lallana to score his first Liverpool goal: “Think it will be tight today, 1-1 Adam Lallana first goal.”

Ex-Reds midfielder David Thompson (@77thomo) is going for a seven-goal thriller: “I feel it’s. Going to be an epic game 4-3 Lfc #DerbyDay”
