Cesc Fabregas admits that Chelsea were boosted ahead of kick-off against Swansea City following Arsenal’s draw with Manchester City.

The Gunners were held to a 2-2 draw by the defending champions at Emirates Stadium in Saturday’s early kick-off before Jose Mourinho’s side took on the Swans at Stamford Bridge.

Diego Costa’s hat-trick helped Chelsea stay top of the Premier League thanks to a 4-2 win in west London.

And former Arsenal captain Fabregas has revealed that the draw between two of Chelsea’s title rivals served as a source of inspiration.

“Obviously we wanted three points as usual, but the more we take advantage of our rivals the better,” Fabregas told Chelsea’s website.

“We know it doesn’t mean much because there is still a long way to go but we knew [before the game] Manchester City and Arsenal had dropped points so it was very important.”

Fabregas also declared his desire to win the Premier League title this season following his move from Barcelona.

“I feel comfortable, I feel good, I feel happy,” he added. “The Premier League season is very long so we have to keep it up until the end.

“What I want is to win titles, that’s what’s most important for me, it doesn’t matter who scores, who assists, who defends. The most important thing is that we are a team.”
