Steve Holland has hailed the performance of Andre Schurrle after the German helped Chelsea reach the fourth round of the League Cup.

The World Cup winner played the full 90 minutes as Jose Mourinho’s men ran out 2-1 winners over Bolton Wanderers at Stamford Bridge thanks to goals from Kurt Zouma and Oscar.

But first-team coach Holland was particularly impressed by Schurrle’s display for the Blues in west London.

“Andre’s performance reflected the mentality of the team,” said Holland after the third-round win.

“He has gone from playing in a World Cup final to the third round of the Capital One Cup and he has shown ambition and drive all night.

“He was dangerous throughout and our most likely source and was a good example of what was best tonight.”

Chelsea will travel on Shrewsbury Town in the next round of the League Cup next month.
