Diego Costa is hoping to continue his goal-scoring run after the Chelsea striker scored a hat-trick in Saturday’s 4-2 victory over Swansea City.

The Spain international helped the Blues come from a goal behind to beat the Welsh outfit and cement their place at the top of the table.

I try to play in the best manner, and hopefully things will continue like this. But there will be a moment when I cannot score – that is football

Diego Costa

Costa has scored seven goals in four Premier League games since making the £32m switch to west London side from Atletico Madrid in the summer.

But the 25-year-old striker attempted to deflect praise onto his Chelsea team-mate despite his impressive treble on Saturday.

“It is different for every striker who comes here. Every striker has their way of playing and their strengths and a different team behind them,” Costa said.

“That is very important. If you do not have the team behind you then you can’t do things on your own. It all depends on the team. It could be because of that.

“I try to play in the best manner, and hopefully things will continue like this. But there will be a moment when I cannot score – that is football.”

Costa scored 27 goals in 32 La Liga games as Atletico won the Spanish title last season.
