Chelsea’s Cesc Fàbregas lifts lid on his relationship with Arsene Wenger
Cesc Fàbregas says he has not spoken to the Arsenal manager since his transfer to Chelsea this summer
Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he has not been in contact with Arsene Wenger following his transfer to Chelsea this summer.
The former Arsenal captain has hit the ground running since his move to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona, making six assists and scoring once in five games for Jose Mourinho’s men so far this season.
There is no problem. I’ll always be grateful to him whatever happens
Wenger turned down the chance to bring Fabregas back to Emirates Stadium this summer before the 27-year-old’s eventual transfer to Chelsea.
And Fabregas, who spent eight years at Arsenal under Wenger’s guidance before leaving the club to join Barcelona in 2011, says that he is hoping to remain in contact with the Frenchman in the years to come despite not having been in touch lately.
“It was the kind of relationship I always would have liked to keep,” Fabregas told the Sun.
“On his birthdays, for his 1,000th game, he always had a text message from me. But I don’t expect anything from anyone in life, positive or negative.
“But I’m sure once everything dies down a bit in the future we will talk. There is no problem. I’ll always be grateful to him whatever happens.”
