Patrick Kluivert believes Manchester United signing Daley Blind can be the “key” link between the defence, midfield and the strikers for Manchester United.

The Netherlands international signed a four-year deal with the Reds Devils on the final day of the summer transfer window after United agreed a £16m deal with Ajax for the defender’s services.

The 24-year-old rose to prominence at the World Cup after a series of star performances at full-back for Louis van Gaal’s Netherlands side, attracting interest from the Premier League.

And former Barcelona striker Kluivert talked up Blind’s potential impact for Van Gaal at United, insisting the Dutch star is capable of dictating the tempo of the Red Devils side.

“Things will and have to turn around for Manchester United and Louis van Gaal but he will be able to manage that team to play well and to perform at the best of their abilities,” Kluivert is quoted as Manchester Evening News.

“Daley Blind is a very intelligent player who reads the game very well. Everyone saw him at the World Cup where he played all the games for the Dutch national team as a left wing-back and as someone who sat in front of the defence.

“He can be a key man between the defence, midfield and the strikers to dictate the tempo of the game.”
