Daniel Agger: I didn’t feel valued by Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool
Defender Daniel Agger says he felt undervalued at Liverpool before his summer switch to Brondby
Daniel Agger has revealed that he felt undervalued by Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool in the build-up to his Anfield exit.
The Denmark international sealed a £3m move back to Brondby in August after finding his first-team opportunities increasingly limited on Merseyside.
Agger, 29, made just 20 Premier League appearance for the Reds last season – and the defender felt that the time was right to move on.
“Let me put it this way: me and the manager were perhaps not on the same page for all of last season. For most of last season at least,” Agger told Danish television.
“There was some distance between us and for me that was enough. I didn’t feel that he appreciated the things I contributed. And when I feel that, then it is time to move on.’
However, Agger was quick to underline his respect for Rodgers, adding: “I think he is an incredibly talented manager.”
