David De Gea has revealed that Ander Herrera is nearing a return to action following the Manchester United midfielder’s recent ankle injury.

The Spaniard has made just one appearance for Louis van Gaal’s side this season as he played 67 minutes in the opening-day defeat by Swansea City at Old Trafford.

And Herrera’s club team-mate De Gea has revealed that the 25-year-old should be ready for his side’s home clash against Queens Park Rangers next Sunday.

“He’s not 100 per cent but for the next game he will be ready,” De Gea said of Herrera.

The Manchester United goalkeeper also revealed that club-record signing Angel Di Maria is hugely excited about his transfer to Old Trafford from Real Madrid.

“He’s delighted to be there and is very excited,” he added. “We try not to talk to him about Real Madrid and focus on United.”
