Dejan Lovren has admitted that he was shocked when he first heard about Liverpool’s interest this summer.

Lovren signed a long-term deal with the Reds after Liverpool eventually agreed a reported £20m deal with Southampton, who were initially reluctant to sell.

The Croatia international has become a first-team regular in the early weeks of the season, making five starts in the Premier League and Champions League.

And during a Q&A session on Twitter, Lovren lifted the lid on his initial emotions when he heard that the Reds were interested in signing the centre-half.

Lovren added that he was always confident that the opportunity to move to a big club would always present itself at some point in his career.
