Angel di Maria and Radamel Falcao will need to settle fast if Manchester United are going to finish in the top four, according to Jamie Carragher.

Louis van Gaal signed Falcao on loan on the final day of the summer transfer window, whilst United spent a British record £59.7m on Di Maria last week.

The Red Devils completed a deadline day move for Ajax defender Daley Blind, too, joining fellow summer signings Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo.

Carragher tipped United to finish outside the top four before the start of the season, and the new signings haven’t swayed the former Liverpool defender.

The former England international defended Van Gaal’s decision to usher home grown talent Tom Cleverley and Danny Welbeck out of Old Trafford this summer.

Van Gaal is still waiting for his first Premier League win as United manager after a winless start to the top-flight campaign.
