Didier Drogba says he has been impressed with Diego Costa’s desire since returning to Chelsea.

The Spain international has scored seven goals in four Premier League games, including a hat-trick in a 4-2 victory over Swansea City last Sunday.

He’s hungry for goals, and that’s the best thing for a team like us

Drogba sealed a return to the Blues after Costa had completed a £32m switch to the west London side from La Liga winners Atletico Madrid.

And the Ivorian believes Costa is the striker that Chelsea needed to challenge for silverware this season.

“Like me, he came to this level a little bit late. When I look at him, I can see the desire to win every challenge, to score goals. He’s very good,” Drogba said.

“He’s hungry for goals, and that’s the best thing for a team like us.

“I think for him to start the season in England, coming from Spain, which is a very different league, and to recreate the same thing he was doing at Atletico, is fantastic.

“That’s the best feeling he could have. He’s the striker we needed this season.”
