Eden Hazard can become one of the best, says Chelsea manager
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho expects Eden Hazard to sign new long-term Blues deal in the next month or so
Jose Mourinho believes Eden Hazard can become one of the best players in the world after confirming the forward is close to signing a new Chelsea deal.
The Blues are reported to be ready to hand the Belgium international a staggering £200,000-a-week deal to secure his future at Stamford Bridge.
It’s a question of time. One more month, one less month, and he’ll have a new contract
Hazard, who scored 14 goals in 35 Premier League appearances last season, was linked with a move to cash-rich Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
However, Mourinho reassured Chelsea supporters that the west London side are hoping to tie down the 23-year-old to a lucrative long-term deal.
“We are feeling day by day his motivation to work hard and improve. We have big hopes that he will go from the top player he is at this moment and will reach higher levels to become one of the best,” Mourinho said.
“He is a player who we want to keep, in spite of the fact he has a long-term contract as young as he is. It’s true Chelsea are trying to have an agreement over a new contract, and that he wants to stay and commit for a few more years.
