Nuri Sahin has urged Borussia Dortmund to make a winning start to their Champions League campaign against Arsenal on Tuesday night.

The 2012 finalists face Arsene Wenger’s side in the group stage of Europe’s premier club competition for the second time in as many seasons.

Arsenal were 1-0 winners in Dortmund in their most recent meeting, whilst Jurgen Klopp’s side edged to a 2-1 victory at The Emirates last October.

Sahin is expected to be sidelined for two months after the Turkey international underwent a knee operation at the start of September.

But the 26-year-old’s enthusiasm for the return of the Champions League wasn’t dampened by his absence through injury as he took to Twitter to rally his team-mates.

Sahin has pedigree in the Champions League after scoring three goals in 21 appearances in Europe’s most prestigious club competition.

Wenger’s side haven’t lost any of their last 10 opening Champions League group-stage games, winning eight fixtures and drawing twice.
