Harry Kane heaps praise on Tottenham match-winner Ryan Mason
Tottenham striker Harry Kane hails Spurs substitute Ryan Mason after a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest
Harry Kane has heaped praise on Ryan Mason after the substitute inspired Tottenham Hotspur to a 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.
The north London side struggled to get going in the Capital One Cup third-round clash, and the Championship leaders surged into a 62nd-minute lead at White Hart Lane.
Forest midfielder Jorge Grant finished past Spurs second-choice goalkeeper Michel Vorm from Lars Veldwijk’s cross to leave Spurs facing the prospect of a fourth game without a win.
However, Mauricio Pochettino introduced Mason in the 65th minute in search of much-needed inspiration, and the Spurs substitute levelled with a long-ranger strike 18 minutes from time.
Spurs striker Roberto Soldado put the home side in front with nine minutes remaining before youngster Kane sealed their passage into the fourth round on the stroke of full-time.
And the England under-21 international was quick to praise match-winner Mason on Twitter following Tottenham’s victory.
