Hugo Lloris praised Federico Fazio’s “comfortable” Tottenham Hotspur debut after a goalless draw with Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League.

The Argentina international was handed a starting spot alongside experienced Belgium international Jan Vertonghen for the trip to Serbia.

This is the most important thing; we had a cleansheet and one point to start the competition is good

And Fazio, who signed a four-year deal with Spurs after his £8m switch last month, impressed his new Tottenham goalkeeper on Thursday night.

“He was really comfortable. His adaptation was really good in the team,” Lloris told Tottenham’s website.

Lloris added that he felt Tottenham performed well considering the changes which Mauricio Pochettino made to his starting line-up, insisting he was happy with an opening draw.

“There was a lot of rotation, everyone had a good spirit,” Lloris added.

“After of course, we could have done better with the ball. It is an ok start to the competition but we can improve and keep going.”

He continued: “We started the game to win but it was not easy to put intensity in the game with short passes and movement. We tried. Maybe we could have played more risky.

“This is the most important thing; we had a cleansheet and one point to start the competition is good. We know at home we can make the difference.”
