Jack Wilshere ‘didn’t leave Danny Welbeck alone’ ahead of Arsenal move
Jack Wilshere reveals his excited reaction after learning that Danny Welbeck could be joining Arsenal
Jack Wilshere has revealed how he reacted with sheer excitement when he learnt that Danny Welbeck was close to a transfer to Arsenal.
The 23-year-old striker signed a five-year deal with the Gunners last week after being deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United.
Wilshere was with Welbeck on international duty with England on the day the deal went through, and the midfielder was thrilled to hear that his team-mate could be moving to Emirates Stadium.
Wilshere told Arseblog News: “It was interesting as we were on our way to training when he said to me, ‘It might be on that I’m coming to Arsenal.’
“From then on I didn’t leave him alone all afternoon. It was seven or eight hours, but he was buzzing!”
The 22-year-old added: “There aren’t many players who move from one top club to another in England, especially English players. It’s unheard of really. That speaks volumes of the quality he’s got.”
