Javier Manquillo has revealed that Brendan Rodgers speaks in fluent Spanish to his summer signing.

The Atletico Madrid defender completed a two-year loan move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window, providing Glen Johnson with competition for the right-back spot.

He [Rodgers] also speaks Spanish fluently too, so it’s really easy for us to communicate

The 20-year-old defender has already started two Premier League games, impressing against Spurs as Liverpool were emphatic 3-0 winners at White Hart Lane.

And Manquillo finds it easy to communicate with manager Rodgers as the former Swansea City boss can speak fluent Spanish with the Spain Under-21 international.

“I get on very well with the manager here. He helps us with everything he can, which is great. He also speaks Spanish fluently too, so it’s really easy for us to communicate,” Manquillo told Liverpool’s website.

“I have some fellow Spanish teammates with me over here too – Alberto Moreno, Suso and Jose Enrique are all here and there are some others in the squad who speak Spanish too, it’s been really easy for me to adapt.”

Manquillo made six La Liga appearances for Atletico before sealing a move to Liverpool in the summer transfer window.
