Joel Campbell ready to ‘work hard’ for Arsenal chance

Arsenal striker Joel Campbell admits he will have to "work hard" to secure a first-team place at the Gunners

Joel Campbell insists he is ready to work hard to earn his chance at Arsenal.

The Costa Rica international has been limited to one substitute appearance this season despite impressing at the summer’s World Cup.

The 22-year-old is aiming to forge a career at the north London side after spending the last three seasons on loan away from The Emirates.

Campbell, who was linked with a deadline day move to Benfica, acknowledged that he has to accept his opportunities will be limited.

“I know you have to work hard to get a chance [at Arsenal],” Campbell said.

“My personal hope is to be able to play.

“I work just like any team-mate. I’ve got to take the minutes I get to play.”

Campbell could get his chance to impress in the coming weeks after France international Olivier Giroud was sidelined for three to four weeks with a foot injury.
