Chelsea captain John Terry warns the Blues's rivals that Diego Costa is hungry for more goals after seven in four outings
John Terry has warned Chelsea’s title rivals that “unbelievable” Diego Costa is hungry to score more goals ahead of their trip to Manchester City on Sunday.
The 25-year-old has scored a staggering seven goals in four Premier League games since completing a £32m move to the west London from Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window.
These are a big few weeks for us, with some massive games coming up, so it is vital that we keep our focus and continue to work hard
And Terry admitted the Chelsea striker is “on fire” following the Spain international’s 22-minute hat-trick against Swansea City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
“Congratulations to Diego Costa on his first Chelsea hat-trick,” Terry said.
“They were three great finishes and you can see he is hungry for more. He has made a big impact for us so far and to have seven goals in his four games is unbelievable.”
Terry added that Chelsea’s squad depth will prove vital in the coming weeks as the Blues face title rivals City and start their League Cup campaign.
“We have great strength in depth in the squad and we will hopefully see the benefits of that in this busy spell,” Terry added.
