Jose Mourinho is fully expecting Louis van Gaal to come good at Manchester United this season.

The Red Devils have made a stuttering start to life under the Dutchman as they picked up just two points from their opening three Premier League games.

He is a big manager, so I think they will do well together

Van Gaal, who took over from David Moyes this summer, also saw his side knocked out of the League Cup following a 4-0 second-round defeat by MK Dons.

However, Chelsea boss Mourinho feels that it will not be long until the former Bayern Munich boss starts to enjoy success with his new club.

“He is one of the best managers in the world, so I think he is a man with great experience for the job,” Mourinho, who worked alongside Van Gaal for three years during their time together at Barcelona, told Eurosport-Yahoo.

“Manchester United is a big team, he is a big manager, so I think they will do well together.”
